What is your title, and can you explain what your daily responsibilities are?
Well, I would say that I am a digital photo restorer, a photo retoucher and a Photoshop and Lightroom Tutor/Trainer and I do some photography work too, so a straight answer would be I am a Photoshopaholic! I have many responsibilities, and the most important, in my opinion is to make my clients happy with the services I provide .
What inspired you most to become a Photographer & Photoshop artist? Why did you pursue this as a career?
Since I was a kid I have always loved photos and taking photos, but it was back in film days, – I know, I don’t look that old 🙂 – but back in the film days it wasn’t easy and it was becoming expensive, and as I was just taking vulgar snaps, it wasn’t working for me, as I wanted more.
But with digital my world changed, especially when I got my first copy of Photoshop.
What do you think is the biggest obstacle to pursuing a career in the creative fields?
I think that the biggest obstacle is to get known, because if no one knows me they can’t either see my work or hire me, but everything takes time and I am aware of that, that is why I don’t plan to give up 🙂
With all the new versions of Photoshop & Lightroom what changes do you personally feel are the most exciting or brilliant?
Photoshop and Lightroom has improved so much over the years that it’s hard to have a most exciting, as there are too many to name, but I must admit that Camera Raw Filter is fantastic, the new Upright in Lightroom and Camera Raw is very cool and the Smart Objects, well, a awesome feature.
What Photographers & Photoshop artists do you follow, and why do they stand out from others in your opinion?
I follow a lot of Photographers and Photoshop artists, to get inspired and sometimes to try to reverse engineer their work so I can improve my own skills.
What social networks do you like most? Which present good examples of Photoshop and Photography the best?
Everyone knows that I prefer Facebook, but I am on Google+, Twitter and many others.
Which presents good examples of Photoshop and Photography? Well, the Photoshop and Lightroom Group on Facebook has some great examples of either Photoshop and Photography, but all over Facebook, it has some great artists with some fantastic examples.
What is your prediction of the evolution of social networks? How do you think these networks will showcase artists and Photographers better in the future?
Social Networks are very cool not only to showcase our work, but also to make new contacts. I think that within the next couple of years a lot of new features will be introduced so users can have a more user friendly experience, therefore artists will post even more and more.
What predictions do you have for the future of Photoshop and Lightroom?
That is a hard one. When I less expect something new something of out of this world is released. I recall a chat I had a couple of years ago with Richard Curtis who works at Adobe in the UK, we were having a chat about the new Shake Reduction Filter(We didn’t call it that at the time, and I told him that in my opinion it would take years to get to the point of release….Oh boy, how wrong was I! As Adobe released the new filter 8 months later.
But I think that a lot of 3D features will be added to Photoshop, a few more tools to help photographers, and I think that soon we can create an entire Website with Photoshop. In Lightroom, I think it is nearly perfect as it is, and I think that maybe soon we will be able to create HDR images without the need of Photoshop.
But it’s just me, I may be wrong, and I may be right, only time will tell.
